Leamon Washington, 51, was arrested on Tuesday, Apr. 16, the Township of Ocean Police Department said in a Facebook post. Officers responded at around 2:30 a.m. to a report of broken glass at the Blue Swan Diner on Route 35 in Oakhurst.
Police entered the restaurant and Washington was found in the crawl space. He was brought to the Ocean Township police headquarters, and investigators learned he was involved in other business burglaries in the township and surrounding communities.
Washington was charged with several counts of burglary, possession of burglar tools, theft, and criminal mischief. He was held in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution to await an initial court appearance.
State prison records said Washington was convicted of ten counts of robbery and burglary in Monmouth County cases between 2015 and 2021.
